Fire Fighters!

Today was super exciting at Xavier's School!  It was Fire Fighters Day and they came with the big Fire Truck.  I was thankful I was able to go and join the fun as Owyn was at preschool this morning.  The Fireman talked about fire safety and then one of the fireman dress up in his fire suit and showed the kids what they look and sound like all dress up.  The kids loved this and then they showed them a few of the goodies that are loaded on the firetruck that they always take with to the fires!  It was super hard for the kids not to touch all the good items in the truck.  Then before they were done they each got a Fire Hat to take home.  Xavier talked a lot this afternoon about how he wants to be a fireman when he grows up.

Wild Wild West Day!

Howdy!!! Last Thursday Owyn got to dress up for her Wild West Theme day at her school and Xavier decided he wanted to dress up for pictures with Owyn before heading out to school.  When the newsletter came home about dressing up like a cowboy/girl or farmer I was like we only have some boots so I searched the internet and came across a super cute John Deere dress on Esty and then saw the price tag of 55 bucks and was like I could sew that I just need to find the material.  Well thankfully our local fabric store had the same fabric except the trim so I picked out some that matched the JD fabric and went to crafting up this dress.  I am pretty amazed at how well it turned out...the only issue is on the back were the straps crossed I need to figure out a better way next time to sew to keep the thread lines more hidden but this cute little dress cost me a less then 5 dollars and about 4 hours start to finish with the sewing.  Owyn was super happy about her dress.  So getting dress was a breeze compared to the mornings before.  She let me do pigtails with flower clips and then insisted that she need the head band too and you see how she likes to wear it. and then she wore her pink John Deere boots.

Owyn's first day of Farm Friends!

Wow!  How the summer has slipped by and it's already time for my baby girl to start her new adventure of school.  Two short weeks ago Xavier started Pre-K and Owyn was so upset that she didn't get to go.  Today was such a hugh exciting day.  She was super happy to be wearing her Hello Kitty outfit and her "packpack"  She let me do her hair with ease this morning which was nice from the 20 min knock downs that we have been having to just get in one ponytail.

Owyn is going to the same preschool Xavier went to last year when we moved here and all she talked about from the time she woke up til she got to school was how she was going to "me farm school" "me need packpack" me see me friends" she was super cute after we dropped Xavier off talking about seeing the rabbits and the chickens and the pony.  When we drop her off we pull up and the teacher greets us at the car and takes her in and she kept saying hurry up I need go school. Finally it was time to get out of the car and I unbuckled her and opened the door and she was practically jumping out of the car I had to beg her for hugs and kisses before she got out.  She petted the kitty laying by the door and as I drove off I heard her yell "Bye Mommy"  Today was a bit bitter sweet as my baby started her new adventure into the big girl world.  I did miss her while she is at school but the welcome she gave me at the end of the day melted my heart and I loved how she told be about her day and was so excited that she got to go to school.  Its so crazy just how fast these two have grown up in the last two years.  Xavier has grown well into his big brother roll and love showing his sister new things and Owyn has become this super independent girl who I almost forget some days when she was just a baby....it those moments that you realize just how fast they grow up.

On the Road Again...

On the way home from camping the kids were being a bit silly and Xavier found the bag of Sunglasses and went to town making sunglasses head.  Shortly after the glasses they fell fast asleep after such a hot busy weekend.

Swimming at the Beach

For Labor Day weekend we went camping at Saylorville.  We headed out Friday afternoon and got to camp about 4pm to set up when I checked my phone at five the temp alone was 103!!!  It was HOT! Which we knew it was going to be going into the weekend.  Our friends Joe, Lisa, Molly and Katelyn were camping for the weekend too so after dinner we enjoyed s'mores together with a small fire.  Then on Saturday we planned to go see the movie Turbo since it was suppose to be super hot again and when we returned to camp around 4 we headed to the beach to cool off...he was still crazy hot...the sand on your feet was burning.  The kids really seemed to have a blast doing the beach.

Then on Sunday we headed down to the beach early because the kids wanted to play in the sand.  We all worked together and built a Sand Castle.  The kids enjoyed smashing it before we got ready to go.

Then on Sunday night we had a camp full of visitors. Bryce and Carrie camp early and went fishing with Andrew and the kids.  Then Stephanie and Brian came out and then Grandma and Grandpa B. showed up and finally Uncle Nathan made it too.  We all enjoyed dinner and s'mores before the kids got settled in and the wind started to pick up and it got chilly so we huddled around the fire and then Andrew decided he wanted to try his hand had making funnel cakes so he got busy with that and they turned out great....he earned a battle scar from he event and ended up with a blister around his pinkie from grease that ran down the tongs.  Monday we packed up and headed for home.
